What is a Guardian Home?
At Beach Ave, our dogs are our family. We aren’t in the business of breeding dogs and giving them away once they no longer reproduce. As much as we’d love to have ALL of the dogs, it’s not feasible. We want to make sure each and every one of our dogs is allowed the attention, space, training and love they deserve. There will be times we produce a quality puppy that we’d like to keep in our breeding program, but do not have space for— this is where a Guardian Home comes into play. A Guardian Home is a family that receives a top-quality Beach Ave Boxer at a deeply discounted price in exchange for co-ownership and Beach Ave Boxers retaining breeding rights. Our Guardian Program is a win-win for us and our owners because it allows you the same privilege and experience of welcoming a Boxer into your family at a lower cost, and also allows us the possibility of using them in our program in the future without sacrificing any of the dog’s wants or needs.
Guardian Homes will be permanent placements just like any of our other puppy families. The only difference is we retain the right to (possibly) use them in our breeding program in the future. It will be a rare occasion that we seek a Guardian Home, but a very important occasion at that.
We currently only consider *male* dogs for Guardian Homes. Our use for males in our program will only ever require a couple of days away from home (max) in the future. More than likely, it will require just a couple of hours to visit our vet’s office. In contrast, females would be required to stay with us for weeks to whelp and raise puppies. We believe between the time away from their permanent home and the stress of birth, it’s not fair to move breeding females around for this purpose.
What are Guardian families responsible for?
- Standard general safety, training, and well-being
- Ensuring the puppy/dog is properly trained and very well-socialized
- Regular veterinary care and preventatives like vaccines, flea/tick, and heartworm regimens
- Standard grooming including nail trimmings
What is the Breeder responsible for?
- Providing a healthy quality Boxer puppy
- Breeding-related expenses/tests
- Care of dog when in Breeder’s possession should they be used for breeding
- Cost of eventual spay/neuter
- Guidance on training and socialization
- Lifetime support of the dog & family
Benefits
- Receive a Beach Ave Boxer puppy at a fraction of the cost ($1000 vs. $2,000)
- Full ownership (Beach Ave will be removed as co-owner) once retired from our program
- Use of the male for stud purposes with $0 fee (breedings must be approved by Beach Ave prior)

Requirements
- Must own your own home/residence
- Must have a fenced-in yard or another equivalent secure environment
- Prior dog ownership experience
- Must crate train puppy
- Must maintain basic training, skills, & manners with the puppy
- Maintain an open line of communication with Beach Ave
- Ability to assist in transporting the dog for breeding purposes
- Must be willing to participate in at least one AKC activity (sports, obedience, conformation, scent work, home-based events, etc.)- Beach Ave may assist in this or do it for you
