Here at Beach Ave Boxers, we believe there are five key areas that are paramount in offering the best Boxer puppies. These five areas are the pillars of our program and map to our ideal Beach Ave Boxer.
Health
We believe one of the most important attributes of a Beach Ave Boxer should be its health. All of our puppies come from health-tested parents who are pre-screened for physical and genetic conditions that commonly afflict Boxers and large-breed dogs. We want to ensure we do everything we can to eliminate preventable conditions and diseases from our Beach Ave babies. Our puppies come appropriately vaccinated, started on high-quality food, and sent home with probiotics to start them off with a strong immune system and aid in healthy digestion.
We also focus heavily on genetic CoI in our program (something that many breeders in the United States don’t address) to do our part to improve the genetic diversity in our puppies and the breed as a whole. CoI is short for “Coefficient of Inbreeding” which is a measurable percentage of inbreeding. The higher the CoI%, the higher the probability of issues such as genetic diseases (like cancer), reduced lifespans, decreased fertility, birth defects, and more. These effects of inbreeding begin as low as a CoI of 5-10%. The average figure is 15-20% in all purebred dogs. The average in the Boxer breed is around 38%.
Our goal is to produce pups with a lower-than-average CoI to improve our lines’ overall health and diversity while also making positive contributions to the breed as a whole. The objective is to decrease the occurrence of unwanted genes and diseases while preserving the integrity and history of the Boxer breed.
Temperament
The ideal Beach Ave Boxer offers a confident, bright, playful, devoted, energetic, brave, and upbeat temperament. It has excellent trainability, eagerness to please, and a warm loving demeanor. We strive for our puppies to offer the quintessential class-clown personality you’ve either already grown to love, or already heard so much about. They’ll keep you on your toes and certainly keep you laughing. We aim to produce Boxers that are friendly, but fearless…the ultimate companion.
Type
We have a vision for our Boxers- a perfect mix of American and European lines to accentuate our favorite traits of the Boxer dog. We love and prefer the sleek velvety coat, hysterical personality, and elegance of the American Boxers. Also prioritized are the classic working drive, the courageousness, and the commanding presence of their old European descent. A muzzle that is not too long, yet not too short is kept in mind to avoid breathing problems. All of our dogs are selected strategically and paired with a mate that we think will complement and highlight their partner.
Purpose
Our Beach Ave babies are bred to bring out the best traits of the Boxer: loyal, affectionate, protective, intelligent, and undeniably personable. They are meant to be true to their “working dog” heritage and will excel in whatever you deem their future to be. Our Boxers are destined to be the perfect addition to your family whether you’re looking for a family companion, a farmhand, a protector, or an athlete that you plan on showing and competing with.
